Kinja'd!!!

And this was the carcass that I picked over , for it has been killed by someone (or something) else.

Remind me to bring a smaller toolbox next time. At least I got the important thing I needed, which was the power steering pump. I still need a few more parts, but then I can get the F ishbowl back on the road.

Take a hike up to Bangor, there’s four corpses in the Kenny U-pull yard if you want ‘em

Bangor? N o thanks lol there’s a couple u-pulls much closer if I weren’t so lazy about it.

That drive from my place to Bangor sucks hard.

Trust me, I’ve been putting off this for a while, it takes me the better part of an hour one way.

I always have the struggle about what tools to bring to the junkyard.  I always end up bringing a big tool bag though and carry it to the carts and drag it around after that...

I just borrowed my stepdad’s portable toolbox with a variety of tools inside of it.

I had everything except the screwdrivers, which I really should have grabbed before I left, but hindsight is 20/20.

An HOUR?!??? Man that stinks. I have a really good u-pull within five minutes of my house, and another halfway decent one within fifteen.

Seriously though, my preferred yard (the closer one) is the cleanest junkyard I’ve ever seen. The whole place is covered in white chat so unless it has rained hard recently you’re not getting muddy. T he cars are a reasonable amount of space apart, enough that you can open the doors without hitting the car next to it, and the rows are far enough apart you could drive a mid-sized  car between them. (Granted, you can’t take your car in, but it’s nice to have space in-between.) The cars have been perched on your standard two-wheels-welded-together ‘jack stands’, and in the fifteen years I’ve been going there, I’ve only seen one car that had become unbalanced and fallen off the stands. (Glad I wasn’t under it.)

Yes, I feel pretty spoiled. :)

I have a large craftsman tool bag I usually fill with wrenches, ratchet, cordless impact, sockets, few pliers, pry tool, 5 pound sledge and screwdrivers.

The yard I like is almost an hour from my house so I don’t want to go back later and usually spend a couple hours scrounging the yard for whatever I’m after.

When I went today, there’s a reasonable amount of space between the cars, and each one had a mat underneath them.

Maine’s had a pretty good drought over the past week or so, so it’s all been dry and almost sandy now.

Thankfully m y trip today wasn’t totally fruitless since they’re charging a core charge and I still need to get some extra parts, so I can just bring back my old power steering pump and use the in-store credit to buffer the cost of the parts I’m replacing.
